CENTRAL TEXAS -
Several Central Texans were without power for several hours earlier this morning.
Bell, Mclennan, Hill, Coryell, Falls and Limestone counties had over one-thousand outages. Each of those could have affected multiple households.
Oncor representative Mike Cain says the blackouts are still under investigation, but it's likely that dust and dirt collected on insulators that sparked fires.
"The moisture from the salt we had this morning can create a temporary situation where the dust will conduct electricity across the top of the insulator, causing small fires and then the outages," Cain explained.
At least sixty pole fires were reported throughout the day.
Many of those areas have had electricity restored late this afternoon.
