Local man attacks girlfriend and her children

BELLMEAD, TX (KXXV) -

A local man has been arrested for strangling his girlfriend and attacking her children early Tuesday morning. Nicholas Gutierrez has been charged with Injury to a Child and Assault by Strangulation after his arrest.

Police received a disturbance call around 1:45 a.m. about residence at the 1100 block of Fisher St. When they arrived Gutierrez had fled the scene, but came back to the home when police had left.

Gutierrez proceeded to confront his girlfriend, and grabbed her around the neck. The victim's 12-year-old son tried to intervene and stop Gutierrez, but he was thrown into a coffee table by the suspect.

The victim's 15-year-old son then grabbed a knife and threatened Gutierrez to leave. The suspect charged the 15-year-old, and as they both fell to the ground the knife cut Gutierrez above his left.

Gutierrez was arrested on the scene, and was sent to the hospital for treatment on his face before being booked. He had a previous warrant for his arrest for criminal mischief charge in Lubbock.
