Former Waco mayor dies from Alzheimer's


Former Waco Mayor James "Bob" Robert Sheehy Sr. died Sunday after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease. Sheehy, an attorney by trade, became Waco mayor in 1992, and was the city's leader during the Branch Davidian siege and subsequent fire.

According to his obituary on the Oakcrest Funeral Home site, during his two terms as mayor the city began the Neighborhood Association Program. A program which is still in effect.

He was also part of a group who brought the Texas Sports Hall of Fame to Waco.

Rosary and visitation for Bob Sheehy will begin at 6 p.m. Friday, December 7th and the service will be at St. Louis Catholic Church at 10 a.m. on Saturday, December 8th.

Bob Sheehy died at the age of 82.
