Waco Police will be introducing a line of Chevrolet Tahoes that will be included with the police department's current fleet of squad cars. The new vehicles will replace older police units that have been retired due to age, mileage and maintenance issues.
The City of Waco's Purchasing Department determined the Tahoe would save money in the long run due to a better average maintenance cost, lower "Total Cost per Mile", longer life span of the vehicle, and a much higher resale value.
Waco Police believe the Tahoe provides enough space for officers to carry the proper amount of computers, radios, emergency equipment, video cameras and additional police gear they may need.
Other Texas police departments in Plano, Lubbock, Sherman, Texas Department of Public Safety, and other local agencies have added the Tahoe to their force.
