Craigslist transaction leads to high speed chase

GHOLSON, TX (KXXV) -

A simple Craigslist deal turns into a high speed chase Thursday afternoon in Gholson.

A Houston man drove to Gholson to meet a man interested in buying a pair of Air Jordan shoes he had advertised on Craigslist.

On his way to the gas station, where the two agreed to meet, the victim saw a woman having car trouble. The victim stopped to help her, but that's when the suspect who was supposed to buy the shoes showed up.

The male suspect shoved the victim, grabbed the shoes and took off in a truck with another man. The Houston man began to pursue the thieves, and said the chase, at one point, reached 110 miles an hour.

The victim called police when he saw the suspects had a gun. McLennan County Sheriff's Deputies were able to arrest Jerry Don Head and James Wesley Mahoney III for robbery.

Head has bonded out of jail, and Mahoney is still in jail due to a parole violation charge in which he cannot bond out.
