COLLEGE STATION -
A Bryan man is in jail tonight for allegedly stealing a car, and then an ambulance in an attempt to escape in College Station.
This wild chain of events started when police say the suspect 28 year old Coty Joe Lohse set off an alarm at a Q Beauty store in Bryan as he was trying to shop-lift. According to police Lohse then stole a parked car from just down the street and drove towards College Station.
After getting into one accident at Villa Maria and Wellborn, officials say he ran into another car at Jones Butler and Harvey Mitchell. The driver of the other car called for an ambulance and when it arrived, police say Lohse took the ambulance before officers could get there.
After running into a concrete pillar at a McDonalds on George Bush and Marion Pugh, police say they found Lohse and the ambulance on Holleman drive in College Station.
Lohse is charged with a first degree felony theft because the ambulance costs around $250,000.
