Driver leads police on chase, arrested for drugs

A man is arrested after he leads police officers on a chase and attempts to dispose of drugs in the process late Tuesday night. Adrian Casarez has been charged with Evading Arrest in a Vehicle, Possession of Controlled Substance and Possession of a Controlled Substance in a Drug Free Zone.

Police conducted a traffic stop at 12th and Kennedy around 11:30 p.m. when the driver of a 1984 Chevy pickup truck drove away from police.The vehicle went north on 12th, then turned onto La Salle before veering south onto University Parks Dr.

The vehicle eventually made its way to 3rd St., and drove over spike stripes officers had deployed in the street. The vehicle eventually came to a stop in the 1000 block of Brown when the front left tire of the vehicle went flat. 

Casarez was arrested without any further incident. During the pursuit, Casarez was seen throwing items out of the truck. Those items were recovered by officers and were found to be cocaine and meth.
