CORYELL COUNTY -
19-year-old Cody Dion Parlato pled guilty to the murder of Darien P. Brodeur in July and was sentenced to life in prison on Monday.
Officers found the 42-year-old victim deceased inside an apartment in the 2000 block of East Highway 190 at the Five Hills Apartments on July 10, 2012 at around 3:50 a.m. that morning. The victim was found with a severe laceration on the front of his neck.
Detectives learned from witnesses that the victim had an altercation with Palato, and that he had sliced the victim's neck with a knife before fleeing the scene.
Parlato was arrested at the 300 block of East Avenue E. later that day shortly after 5:00 p.m.
Detectives did not find the murder weapon inside the apartment. Witnesses led officers to a nearby park where the knife was buried.
