Killeen Police are investigating a fatal motorcycle crash involving a Fort Hood soldier Thursday night. A motorcyclist crashed and was found by police in the 5300 block of Bridle Dr. at 9:56 p.m.
Officers say that based off the preliminary investigation the victim, 29-year-old Sgt. Brandon Lynnard Martin, was riding his 2003 Yamaha YZFR6 very fast southbound on Bridle Dr. and lost control of the vehicle. Martin then fell off the motorcycle, rolled on the asphalt, and hit a 2001 Ford Focus parked nearby.
The motorcycle slid away before hitting into a flat bed utility trailer nearby.Martin was transported to the Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center in critical condition.
Even though Martin was wearing a helmet, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at 10:44 p.m. He was a petroleum supply specialist, and was assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 206th Military Intelligence Battalion since June 2012.
