Congressman Bill Flores honored four local veterans at Waco's Veteran's Day parade Monday morning. It was the first time District 17 awarded congressional veteran commendations.
Arnold Mathias and Bill Mahon of Waco were recognized and awarded medals Monday. Roy Kelley of College Station will receive his Tuesday, and Burleson's Orville Cleveland will get his medal in the near future.
Mahon served for 20-years and received multiple medals for his time in Vietnam, and served veterans locally. He served in Europe in World War II, as did Kelly.
Cleveland, a Navy vet, has assisted hundreds of veterans each year in Johnson County.
