Man arrested after deadly double-stabbing outside local business

MCGREGOR, TX (KXXV) -

Police arrested a man suspected of stabbing to death one man and injuring a woman outside a local restaurant and bar early Sunday morning.

McGregor Police received a 911 call shortly after 12:00 a.m. saying that a fight had escalated into a stabbing in the parking lot of Doc's Steakhouse and Saloon at 510 S. Main St.

Officers found Charles Darrell McKenzie, 49, of McGregor, suffering from several stab wounds. A witness told police the suspect had fled the scene of the crime.

An ambulance took McKenzie to Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center, where Justice of the Peace Kristi DeCluitt pronounced him dead an hour after the stabbing. His body was sent to Dallas for an autopsy.

Meanwhile, McGregor Police personnel notified officers at the crime scene that two people were in the parking lot of the police station.

Arriving officers found Paula Rios, 32, of McGregor. She had also been stabbed. She was airlifted to Scott and White Hospital in Temple.

With her was Augustine Jimenez Guerrero, 33, of McGregor. Guerrero was identified as the suspect in the stabbing. Police arrested him and brought him to McLennan County Jail.

Police are still investigating the case.

    The Federal Aviation Administration's announcement late Wednesday comes nearly a year after the engine's manufacturer recommended the additional inspections, and a month after European regulators ordered their airlines to do the work.
