LORENA -
A construction crew working on widening Interstate 35 dug into a major gas line at Lorena. The incident happened shortly after 10 a.m. Wednesday, and will require the closure of some roads for three or four hours.
The gas line was damaged near the intersection of Larkens Street and the southbound frontage road of Interstate 35. No fire or explosion was reported, and no one was hurt.
The southbound 322 exit was closed, and the southbound frontage road was closed from Center Street to South Bordon. The main lanes of the interstate were not affected.
Gas service to 65 customers had been affected by the gas outage, but officials say recently that gas is being turned back on this afternoon. Gas was turned off at the meter for affected homes, and technicians have been making contact with homeowners who have been home to turn it back on.
