Killeen man pleads guilty to Cove bank robbery


A Killeen man admits to holding up a Copperas Cove bank in late September. John Russell Lightner plead guilty in federal court in Waco Tuesday.

Police say Lightner walked into the Fort Hood National Bank in the 200 block of Constitution Dr. showed a handgun and got an unknown amount of money from the teller.

There were three tellers inside the bank at the time, and witnesses say Lightner ran through parking lot after robbery. No one was injured at the bank.

Killeen police arrested Lightner on October 22, and he is now in the custody of the U.S. Marshal's office.
