WACO -
The long lines may have died down at the polls but certainly not the excitement at the Hog Creek Ice House where Parnell McNamara took the big win as McLennan County Sheriff.
The former U.S. Deputy Marshall took almost half the vote in, he had a healthy lead over two other candidates, Willie Tompkins and Charles Hutyra. He will replace Larry lynch, who has been the county Sheriff for 12 years. He beat out Sheriff Candidate Randy Plemons in the Primary Election in May, but that wasn't an easy win.
McNamara says it's been a long and hard campaign trail for him and his family. He is grateful that McLennan County residents picked him as Sheriff, and he says he will turn up the heat on criminals here.
"It's been wonderful, the help that I have gotten along the way has been great," McNamara said. "I couldn't have done it without my team, and we are finally at the finish line."
