KILLEEN - A 5-year-old girl was struck by an SUV Friday afternoon near Sugar Loaf Elementary School. She was flown to Scott & White Hospital in serious condition for treatment.
Killeen Police say the accident happened around 3 p.m. when kids were walking home from school. A white van stopped at the intersection of Pamela Drive and Kimberly Lane when the driver waved for the group of students to walk across the street.
That's when a champagne colored SUV swerved around the van, striking the 5-year-old girl. Authorities said the victim was conscious and breathing when they arrived. She is expected to recover. Fortunately, no one else was hurt in the accident.
Officers are still investigating this accident. No charges have been filed at this time.
