COPPERAS COVE -
Copperas Cove police have arrested a suspect believed to be in connection with an October 23 shooting at a local car wash. 22-year-old Dante LeRoy Cross was arrested Monday at 1000 Randa St. for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.
Police responded to 602 N. 1st Street in reference to shots being fired the evening of October 23. Witnesses told police that several individuals were at a local car wash when they were confronted by four other people.
After an argument the four people departed but one of them returned later with a handgun. The victims ran from the area and attempted to leave the scene in a vehicle. The suspect, Cross, then began to fire the handgun at the vehicle, a black 2013 Hyundai Elantra.
There were seven victims during the incident and only one person received a minor injury after a round fragment grazed the back of their neck. No medical assistance was necessary.
Cross has now been transported to the Coryell County Jail on the $700,000 surety bond. The case continues to be investigated by Copperas Cove police.
