TEMPLE - Temple police are investigating a two car accident that occurred late Tuesday night at the intersection of Airport Rd. and Research Parkway.
According to Temple police, three passengers traveling in a black Dodge truck westbound on Airport Dr. collided with two passengers in a red Dodge car when the red Dodge failed to obey a stop sign. Witnesses say the red Dodge was traveling at "a high rate of speed" when it bypassed the stop sign.
Several occupants from the vehicle were ejected during the crash.
All five people were transported to Scott and White Hospital, where three people were treated for very serious injuries, one was treated for life threatening injuries, and the driver of the red vehicle, 26-year-old John Jarrett Colton Carter, was pronounced dead.
Alcohol is being considered as one of the contributing factors in the crash.
