COPPERAS COVE -
Copperas Cove Animal Control is notifying residents to take the proper precautions with household pets and themselves if they recently have been exposed to animal with rabies.
Animal control was informed to visit the Robertson Avenue Baptist Church at 305 E. Robertson Ave. regarding a raccoon displaying unusual behavior.
When officers caught the raccoon, they sent it to the Texas Department of Health Laboratory in Austin for testing, and were notified that the raccoon was infected with rabies on Thursday.
Animal control wants people to know that anyone who has knowledge of anyone or anything thing that has made contact with a raccoon or other wild animal in this area to immediately contact the Copperas Cove Animal Control or the Copperas Cove Police Department.
