NOLANVILLE - A Nolanville City Council nominee was arrested Thursday morning after he tried to run from police. Robert Meeks Jr. was charged with aggravated assault, and resisting and evading arrest.

Police were called to Meeks' home at 300 Nolan Ridge Dr. after people in the surrounding area reported that shots had been fired. Neighbors said there was some type of argument between Meeks and his wife around 1 a.m.

When officers got there, they tried to arrest Meeks, but he ran down the street and eventually was tackled then arrested.
