Second Man Arrested In July Murder

HEWITT - Robinson Police have made a second arrest in connection to a man who was beaten to death on July 11. Shane Tyler Sims was arrested in Hewitt when officers made a traffic stop on a car carrying the suspect as a passenger at 5 a.m. Wednesday morning.

Sims was taken to the McLennan County Jail on a charge of murder for his connection to the death of Mathew Ray Easley. 

The 56-year-old Easley suffered massive head injuries the attack at his home at 800 S. Robinson Dr. He later died after being taken off of life support.

Police have already arrested 30-year-old Clinton Douglas Mills and had originally charged him with Aggravated Assault before upgrading that charge to Murder after Easley's death.

Police said a continued investigation has lead to charges being filed against the second man in the case.
