HAWTHORNE, CA - The SpaceX Dragon spacecraft successfully attached to the International Space Station around 8 p.m. local time.
Crew members of Expedition 33 completed the critical stage of the cargo resupply mission buy using the ISS's robotic arm to capture Dragon and guide it to the station's Harmony module. The Dragon has been bolted to the International Space Station and will stay there for 18 days.
Expedition 33 Commander Sunita Williams said, "Looks like we've tamed the Dragon."
The station crew plan on pressurizing the vestibule between the station and Dragon so the crew can begin unloading the cargo from the Dragon to the ISS.
The spacecraft is scheduled to be released from the ISS on October 28 with return cargo to earth. Dragon will land and be recovered in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of southern California.
The Dragon spacecraft was tested in McGregor, TX.
