Local Fugitive Caught By Authorities

By John Elizondo and Adam Shear

WACO - One of the two fugitives that were the subject of a manhunt in the Robinson area last week was taken into custody Tuesday.

William Scott Mayhew, 20, was arrested by the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force and Department of Public Safety at his step-mothers home in Waco on Monte Vista St. in the middle of the afternoon. Mayhew was taken into custody without any incident.

On Oct. 2, U.S. Marshals, Robinson Police, State Troopers and DPS helicopters began searching for Mayhew and his accomplice, Kevin Hogan, in Downsville at S. Third St., just seven miles outside of Waco.

Both men had warrants out for their arrest at the time. Hogan was wanted for aggravated assault and Mayhew was a probation violator.

Prior to the search, Hogan was spotted in a car at a local business. A U.S. Marshal tried to approach the men to make an arrest, but the driver of that car, Mayhew, sped off.

Marshals started to pursue the men and in a desperate attempt to escape the suspects abandoned, the vehicle in Robinson, and fled on foot.

Marshals were able to catch Hogan before he could get out of Robinson, but Mayhew managed to escape.

According to sources, a tractor was stolen from a home in Robinson during the manhunt. That tractor was later found on the side of the road in Waco, but police are not saying whether those crimes are linked of if that is how Mayhew escaped.
