WACO - A 19-year-old local man has been arrested on charges of beating his girlfriend on numerous occasions and threatening strike another man with a brick.
An arrest warrant had already been issued for Demondray Demon Patterson and officers were looking for him this weekend when was accused of going to his girlfriend's house.
The young woman feared for her safety, so she devised a plan to help police catch Patterson. The woman told Patterson that she had to pay a bill and asked for him to stay with her child. As she left she called the police.
When Patterson realized police officers were coming, he abandoned the baby and jumped from a second story window in an attempt to get away. Officers later detained Patterson.
Patterson is being charged with issuing a Terrorist Threat, Abandoning and Endangering a Child, and Assault. His bond has been set at $270,000.
