CAPE CANAVERAL - SpaceX is making its second trip to the International Space Station when it launched Sunday night from Cape Canaveral.
The private commercial supply ship launched its unmanned Falcon rocket that included a Dragon capsule that held 1,000 pounds of cargo such as chocolate vanilla swirl ice cream for the three space station residents.
The Dragon capsule is also carrying 23 different science experiments. Some of them were created by Texas students.
This is the first of 12 Dragon launches under a $1.6 billion contract between SpaceX and NASA. The capsule had a test flight to the International Space Station in May of this year, but didn't carry any supplies.
The capsule will arrive at the space station on Wednesday and will return to Earth three weeks later. SpaceX has a testing facility in McGregor.
