ELM MOTT- A man who ran into his burning motor home to save his cat on Saturday is recovering from second-degree burns.
Michael Darr, 27, was showering at his father's house in the 200 block of Oakgrove Cir. around 12:00 p.m., when his girlfriend ran in and told him his motor home next door was on fire.
Darr ran into the motor home but couldn't find his cat. He suffered severe burns to his back and shoulder, according to his family.
The cat died in the fire, and the motor home was destroyed. Darr's family's house was not damaged.
Darr is recovering at Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center.
He told officials a candle started the blaze. The McLennan County Sheriff's Office ruled the fire accidental.
