CHINA SPRING - A 57-year-old man is being held on multiple charges after he allegedly drove his wife off the road and then beat her after the wreck.
Sterling Wayne Thompson has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and assault/family violence. Captain Kenneth Vanek with the McLennan County Sheriff's Office said the incident happened in a neighborhood, the Hills of Childress Creek ,about 8:30 p.m. Wednesday night.
Investigators suspect that Thompson rammed his pickup into his wife's vehicle more than once and forced her vehicle off the road. He then got out of his car, pulled her out of her vehicle and then beat her. After he left the scene, Thompson drove his truck into a tree.
He is being held in lieu of a total of $25,000 bond.
