UPDATE: The baby is currently recovering after being ejected from a vehicle.
TEMPLE- A rollover on the interstate in Temple critically injured a woman and a baby on Saturday night.
The 28-year-old driver of an SUV was driving south on I-35 just past Midway Dr. around 7:20 p.m., when she had to swerve to avoid debris in the road. The SUV then struck the median and rolled over.
A five-month-old baby was ejected from the SUV and landed on the shoulder of the highway. A passerby picked up the baby and brought it to Scott and White Children's Hospital, where the child is in critical condition.
The driver's arm was pinned between the SUV and the highway. An ambulance rushed her to Scott and White Hospital, where she is also in critical condition.
A 29-year-old passenger was also taken to the hospital to be evaluated.
Traffic was diverted from I-35 South at Midway Dr. for about two hours after the accident while a reconstruction team gathered information from the wreck.
The accident is still under investigation.
