FALLS COUNTY- In Marlin, 40 miles East of Waco, two teens managed to burglarize 14 cars in the same day.
Police say the suspects are just 16-years-old.
They stole wallets, jewelry and navigation systems from the cars.
Marlin Chief of Police Darrell Allen said the police began to investigate when several residents reported various items missing from their cars. That's when Marlin police told residents to keep their eyes open for any suspicious activity, and they did.
Residents began to notice some teens who began to wear expensive clothes and jewelry--which was out of character for them.
The police were able to trace the purchased items to one of the suspect's homes.
"The department store contacted the card holder and said something's wrong," Chief Allen explained. "Then the card holder informed us on what was going on."
The young man ended up confessing to the online shopping spree. Police believe the teen got mixed in with the wrong crowd.
"I was very shocked to realize who the individual was because they come from a very good family," Chief Allen said. "But it's just something that unfortunately happens."
Four of the victims of the burglaries chose not to press charges because the suspect is a minor. He is charged with burglary of a vehicle and credit card abuse. The teen is currently in the Limestone county detention center, while police are still looking for the other suspect.
