President of the Texas Association of Broadcasters Dies

Posted:

Ann Arnold, the longtime president of the Texas Association of Broadcasters, has died at the age of 67.

Arnold has led the Texas Association of Broadcasters since 1987.

While leading the industry group, Arnold pushed for advancements in the emergency alert system.

She also lobbied for legislation that guarantees viewers would get all FCC-licensed broadcast stations when telephone companies begin offering audio or video.

She worked as a capitol correspondent for United Press International and the Fort Worth Star-Telegram before joining then-Governor Mark White's administration as press secretary.

She was the first woman to serve as a Texas governor's press secretary.

Arnold is a native of Jackson, Mississippi.

She is survived by sons Bill and Jon, and her sister, Sue March.
