MCGREGOR- One year after establishing its McGregor location, Customer Contact Channels (C3) is adding hundreds of local jobs.
From Aug. 20 to Aug. 29, C3 hired 144 employees at the site, and, by the end of September, the company plans to add 175 more customer service representatives, supervisors and support technicians. During the peak hiring time from July to the end of September, the call and data center with big health care clients will have added 500 jobs.
While a small number of the positions will be seasonal, the majority, according to site director Suzette Mansfield, will be full-time, permanent jobs.
C3 isn't the only McGregor business boosting the local economy; SpaceX announced in June the McGregor testing site of the space exploration company will add hundreds more jobs, too.
City Manager Kevin Evans said the city is hoping the growth in industry will spread into McGregor neighborhoods.
"One of the things we really want to do now is just capture some of this employee population as residents," Evans said, "and we're focusing on that as we speak."
One part of the city's vision plan is to attract families with McGregor's solid school system.
"They're one of the better school districts not only in this region but in the state," Evans said, "and we plan on marketing that at a very high level."
After hiring is complete at C3 in McGregor, the building will hold 600 to 650 employees.
