WACO- Naser Jason Abdo, the AWOL soldier convicted and sentenced to two life terms and an additional 60 years for a Fort Hood bomb plot, is planning his appeal.
Abdo's court-appointed attorney, Stan Schwieger, said he filed a formal notice of appeal and is awaiting paperwork to arrive from federal court.
Abdo represented himself on Aug. 10 for sentencing when he defended his plan to bomb a Killeen restaurant popular with soldiers and then shoot the survivors as they ran out. Abdo called his plan "justice" for Afghans and Iraqis. He also praised accused 2009 Fort Hood gunman Nidal Hasan.
Police arrested Abdo last July at America's Best Value Inn in Killeen, where they found his hotel room full of bomb-making materials.
