WACO - Waco ISD's Board of Trustees approved a pay hike for teachers Thursday night that averages 3.5%, with other employees getting a smaller 3% raise. The increase was needed to more easily retain current educators and also recruit new teachers.
The board also gave its approval to sell the old University High School campus at I-35 and Valley Mills for $5 Million to a developer who plans to build a retail site at that location. That sale will not close until next June, after the current school year.
