BRYAN - A Bryan man was arrested early Saturday morning after he fled from a sheriff's deputy on a horse last month.

Around 5:30 a.m., Justin William Garey, 32, was booked into the Brazos County Jail for charges of evading arrest and assault - causing a bodily injury to a family member.

According to a probable cause statement filed by the sheriff's office, a sheriff's deputy was dispatched to Garey's home in the 6400 block of Alexander Road on July 19th regarding an issue with a family member.

The report states that Garey knew a warrant was out for his arrest because he was told by the deputy several weeks prior to the deputy's visit.

As the deputy approached the home, Garey allegedly came out of a barn near the home riding a horse and sped past the deputy.

The deputy yelled for Garey to stop, but he reportedly continued to flee.

According to the report, the deputy then got into his patrol vehicle and tried to track down Garey. However, the deputy and several other officers were unable to locate him.

No information is available on how Garey was arrested Saturday.
