Man found dead in Lake Belton area

LAKE BELTON - A body has been found near a park in the Lake Belton area.

The local sheriff's department received a call at around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday evening regarding a man that had been found in Leona Park in a fishing area near the long bridge.

Two men had reportedly been fishing out on the lake, when one of the men had a medical problem and left the boat. The men had been having trouble with the boat's motor prior to the incident.

The victim was found deceased a short distance away from Leona Park after a search was conducted for about an hour.
