Wife killed, husband injured after tool flies through windshield

BRAZOS COUNTY- A piece of construction equipment that fell off a truck and flew through a car windshield killed a woman and injured her husband five miles east of Bryan on Sunday.

Bryan D.P.S. officials said the couple was driving behind the truck shortly after 2:00 p.m. in the 18,000 block of Hwy. 21 when the angle iron fell from the truck and smashed through the windshield.

An ambulance rushed the couple to St. Joseph's Hospital, where the woman died about an hour later and her husband remained injured in the hospital.

Officials were still looking for the driver of the truck on Sunday evening and said it's possible the driver didn't realize what had happened and kept going.

The couple's names are not yet being released.
