WACO - Police have arrested a man accused of firing his gun off then trying to evade arrest.
On Monday at approximately 2:06 a.m., several officers heard a discharge from the Sanger/Valley Mills area in Waco.
As they were responding, they received calls concerning the shooting.
Witnesses reported that two men had been arguing in the area of Sanger/Bowden and that one had fired a gun into the air before leaving in a Lincoln Town Car.
Officers spotted the car at the intersection of Sanger and Richland and stopped the vehicle at Lake Air and Tennyson after a brief slow speed chase.
When the car stopped, the passenger in the car, identified as Renard Vaughn, took off running. He was apprehended after a short chase.
Officers found a .40 caliber pistol in the car along with two .40 caliber casings.
Vaughn was arrested for evading, discharging a firearm, and being a felon in possession of a gun.
The driver, Keaira Cole, was arrested for evading in a vehicle.
