COPPERAS COVE -- As that news out of Colorado continued to send shock waves across the country, none felt it more than the residents living near Fort Hood who experienced a similar horror.
It seems despite the similarities, residents have been able to move forward.
"We are always going to remember what happened it's tragic but I don't think it's going to effect the outcome of a movie," Ricky Tipton said.
Lines piled up, Friday, at Cinergy Cinemas in Copperas Cove, despite the tragic events at the Century 16 movie theater near Denver, Colorado.
The horrific event that claimed 12 lives, was an eerie reminder of the horrific events that occurred on Fort Hood.
"During that event I was about a mile from that event on fort hood and it did rehash some thing s and it does make you think twice,"
Reno Paulus said.
Paulus and his family were considering not seeing the movie in fear a repeat event but in the end decided to change their minds.
"We talked about an exit plan tonight before we came and like I said we don't want any terrorist to control our lives and our quality of life."
Many in line said that despite the parallels between the Colorado and Fort Hood shootings they still wanted to come out because they felt safe.
"A lot of people are going, a lot of people are talking about it.
Its great we are all looking forward to it," Tipton said.
Management at Cinergy Cinemas ensures it is perfectly safe to come to the movies.
There is and will be a police presence at the theater and all doors will be monitored by staff.
"I feel extremely safe, the likelihood of an event reoccurring here in copperas cove is slim to none," Paulus said.
