AURORA- The shock of movie theatre massacre in Aurora, Colorado has spread across the nation, but it is hitting home for some Central Texas residents too.
News Channel 25's Danielle Skinner's brother, Ryan Skinner, had every intention of being in that same movie theatre--but a mother's intuition kept him from going.
Ruth Skinner says her son Ryan was supposed to be in the theatre to watch the premiere of "The Dark Knight Rises" with some friends.
In a skype interview Ruth said the night before the premiere Ryan told her he had planned to go to the movie with friends--but he didn't have enough money.
Something inside told her he needed to stay home that night.
Ruth said she was so close to handing Ryan an allowance, but decided he had to earn it. Little did she know she may have saved his life.
"The first thing I did was bust into Ryan's room to make sure he was in the bed," Ruth said.
"When I saw him I went over and I don't know if he remembers, but I hugged him."
"It was kind of crazy to see that the same theatre that I went to go see little kiddy Disney movies in, got shot up like that," Ryan explained. "It was just kind of shocking."
Ryan said several of his friends were in the theatre when the shooting happened--luckily they all got out safely.
