Temple man jailed after holding up convenience store

Posted:

TEMPLE - A man who robbed a local convenience store Monday afternoon is now behind bars.

Police responded to the "Lucky Star Grocery" convenience store in the 2200 block of West Avenue H after receiving a report of a robbery that had just occurred.

Officers arrived and learned that a man had entered the store, displayed a weapon and demanded cash before taking off with the money on foot. No one was injured.

Officers were able to locate a man matching the description of the suspect near the intersection of South 23rd Street and West Avenue I. Officers detained the man and after further investigation, determined that he had committed the robbery.

57-year-old Patrick McNeil of Temple was found with the stolen money in his possession, as well as an air pistol that closely resembled a real firearm.

The charge against McNeil will be reviewed by the Bell County District Attorney's Office on Tuesday.
