Charges Upgraded Following Fatal Crash

Posted:

KILLEEN--A Killeen driver now faces murder charges after an April crash in which his passengers died.  Police say John Stanton Beasley failed to stop for officers last April and crashed his SUV into a utility pole, splitting it nearly in two.  The man and woman in the back seat died.  The incident began at Action Pawn in the 1100 block of South Fort Hood Street.  Store employees told police Beasley and another man were acting suspiciously.   Originally, Beasley faced a lesser charge of evading arrest,  but since his passengers died during the commission of another felony, he will now be tried for murder.
