NAVASOTA - Authorities are awaiting the results of an autopsy for a woman who was found dead after being struck with a vehicle Friday night in Navasota.
Around midnight, Tanya LaFlash was driving in the westbound lane of State Highway 105 near Navasota. That's when her 1998 GMC pick-up truck hit 55-year-old Diane Lombardi.
Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper Jimmy Morgan said Lombardi's body was lying horizontally across the highway when she was hit.
"If the body had been placed there prior to the car striking the body then an autopsy would show if that happened," said Morgan. "Or if there was anything to dispute whether the car actually caused the death."
The autopsy was completed earlier today. Investigators say it could take seven to ten days to get results back.
