Two killed in apparent murder-suicide

Posted:

BLUM - In an incident Hill County Sheriff Jeff Lyons is calling an apparent murder-suicide, two people have been found dead in the small community of Blum.

Deputies were called to the 200 block of Avenue "D" in Blum at around 8:00 p.m. Thursday night after a son and daughter in law of one of the deceased went to the home and found them.

Both had gunshot wounds to the head. A small caliber handgun was recovered at the scene.

Lyons says it appears initially that the man shot the woman, then himself. Names are being withheld pending notification of other family members. Lyons says the male was suffering from cancer and the female had a long history of chronic back pain. The woman had been transported to a hospital in Cleburne earlier in the day and had been treated and released, sent home with medication.

Both bodies have been sent to the Southwest Institute for Forensic Science in Dallas for an autopsy.
