Killeen - A Killeen Police Officer was hit by an SUV while chasing an aggravated sexual assault suspect Monday afternoon.

A detective and some officers went to arrest 25-year-old Roel Reando Brown in the 700 block of Santa Rosa Drive. When Brown saw them he ran.

Officers searched for him for more than an hour in the areas of Hallmark, Dimple, Safaday, and the field north of his apartment on Santa Rosa Drive. An officer spotted him in the 800 block of West Hallmark. As the officer was chasing Brown he was hit by a Chevy Avalanche and was airlifted to Scott & White Hospital in stable condition.

During the same pursuit another officer was bitten by a K-9 as the dog was attempting to go after the suspect. He was rushed to Metroplex Hospital and was later released.

Officers were able to catch Brown in the 800 block of Adelia. He was arrested after being subdued with a Taser gun.

Brown is in the Killeen City Jail charged with Aggravated Sexual assault.
