LACY LAKEVIEW-Local authorities swarmed Lacy Lakeview, a suburb of Waco when a man barricaded himself inside a home with a gun earlier this evening.
Officers received a call that an elderly man had a gun inside a home.
They arrived to find the suspect at the front door in his boxers--they backed off when they saw what he was hiding behind his back.
"In the back of his boxer shorts he had a twenty two pistol, he didn't want to give that twenty-two pistol up and he turned and grabbed for it, we backed off, said Chief of TSTC Police Henry Gudenau.
Officers ordered the man to come outside and drop his weapon, but you'll never guess what he told police next.
"He had made a few comments that we'd have to come in and get him and that he wasn't going to come out," said Gudenau.
That's when a SWAT team, Waco Sheriff's deputies, TSTC and DPS officers swarmed this neighborhood.
After Lacy Lakeview police continued to negotiate with the suspect he finally surrendered. Thankfully no one else was involved or hurt--
"Yea I mean that could have gone really badly but it ended pretty quietly so that was good," said resident David King.
King says something like this has never happened in his neighborhood.
"The only thing we have to worry about is people speeding on crest, this is the closest I've been to a SWAT team like that."
Lacy Lakeview police will give this man a psychiatric evaluation next to see if he's okay. Until that examination is completed police are with-holding the suspect's identity.
