WACO - A woman is in trouble after leaving her kids behind in a parking lot.
Police were called to the Richland Mall area on Sunday at around 4:30 p.m. in response to a call about a woman leaving her children behind in a parking lot.
Witnesses told police the woman, later identified as 23 year old Griselda Jimenez, had come out of Sears accompanied by two young children, a six-year-old and a four-year-old, and that she had gotten into her truck and was driving away, even as the children were banging on the side of the truck and witnesses were yelling at her to stop. The vehicle was stopped at 38th and Waco Drive.
The police report indicates she told officers she "had things on her mind an inadvertently left them behind."
She was taken to jail and the children were released to the custody of their father.
