KILLEEN (UPDATE) - Police have recovered a total of 67 stolen firearms located after a high speed chase that took place on Monday.

The suspect who led police on a high speed chase at speeds reaching nearly 120 miles per hour has been identified as 29-year-old Michael Paul Dunlap of Copperas Cove.

After the chase had ended, police found multiple firearms, two safes, a computer, a cash register, and an undisclosed amount of cash in Dunlap's possession.

Copperas Cove Officers searched the local area and found damage to the backside of a building located in the 1600 block of East Highway 190. Officers determined the stolen vehicle had been used to ram the back door and wall of the building, causing damage in the amount of $2,100. The suspect was then able to gain entry into two businesses, 1600 East Highway 190 (JT Sports) and 1604 East Highway 190 (Cove Cleaners). The suspect burglarized both businesses, removed the aforementioned property, and fled from the scene just prior to the pursuit.

Detectives confirmed a total of 67 firearms including shotguns, rifles and handguns had been stolen during the incident. All have since been recovered along with the other stolen items.

Dunlap was taken to the Bell County Jail charged with Evading Arrest or Detention with a Vehicle and received a $20,000 bond.

KILLEEN (ORIGINAL STORY) - A high speed chase with speeds reaching nearly 120 miles per hour, ended in Killeen Monday morning.

The chase began around 5 a.m. in Copperas Cove after a Dodge Ram was reported stolen from the Relax Inn off East Highway 190.  Officers spotted someone driving the stolen truck an hour later, and tried to pull-over the vehicle.

The driver, now identified as Michael Paul Dunlap refused to stop, leading police on a high speed chase into the City of Killeen.

That's when Killeen officers joined in.  Spikes were reportedly laid down to stop the vehicle, popping the truck's tires near Highway 195.

Dunlap took off running, but was caught by Killeen Police and taken into custody.

Officers have not confirmed what stolen items were found in the truck, but sources told us police confiscated drugs, money, and several stolen guns, including AK-47's.

The $40,000 truck was heavily damaged during the chase.

No one was hurt.
