COPPERAS COVE - An arrest has been made after a man supposedly took off with an apartment renter's electric meter in a poorly planned attempt to save money on utilities.

It started when a woman who lived in an apartment complex in the 100 block of East Truman noticed her power had gone off. She looked and to her surprise, her electric meter was missing.

She called Oncor to report the disappearance and they told her that her power had not been turned off.

The resident then spoke with her landlord, and in the process learned that a man by the name of Micah Scott Sherman had been evicted and "things has not gone well." Police went to Sherman's new home in the 500 block of North 2nd St. and found the meter. It had been installed in his new home's meter jack to begin feeding power to that residence. This is a state jail felony.

Sherman is now charged with Criminal Mischief and Impairing or Interrupting Public Service.
