BELL COUNTY - One student and the bus driver are still in critical condition Tuesday night after a horrible accident earlier in the day.
Twenty-nine students and 3 adults were sent to the hospital after an accident involving a school bus and a Lowe's delivery truck.
The accident took place shortly after 7:30 a.m. at the intersection of FM 93 and Old 95 between Little River and Temple. FM 93 is still closed in the area.
According to a DPS spokesman, the delivery truck was southbound on Old 95 and the bus was headed down FM 93 when the truck failed to yield right of way, ran a stop sign and clipped the bus, causing the accident and flipping the bus on its side. The driver of the truck may be cited for a traffic violation.
Heavy fog in the area is believed to be what caused the driver to miss the stop sign.
The bus was Academy ISD bus #7, and was carrying 38 Little River Academy students.
The latest report from Scott & White states all but three of the 29 students first taken to the hospital have been released. Three are still hospitalized, one in critical condition. Three adults were also treated, and the driver is awaiting surgery in critical condition.
The bus driver supposedly received the most serious injuries. The driver of the truck only received minor injuries.
