BELTON - Police have arrested a man for slashing a teenager's neck during a party on New Years Day.

Police were dispatched at 3:00 a.m. to the 6700 block of Lanita Drive in reference to a fight that had reportedly broken out. When they arrived, they couldn't find anyone that had been involved in an altercation.

During this time period, Belton P.D. got a call in the 1500 block of W. Avenue O. concerning a 16-year-old boy who had received an injury at the party. The victim had reportedly suffered a 7-inch cut to his neck. He was taken to Scott and White by ambulance, but the deputies received no information on who was responsible for his injuries.

During the subsequent investigation, the Bell County Sheriff's Office Criminal Intelligence Unit received information on the person responsible for the boy's injuries. He was identified as 35-year-old Hector Rendon and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Around 11 p.m. Thursday, Rendon turned himself into sheriff's deputies, and is now in the Bell County Jail.
