Middle school student shot three times

BROWNSVILLE - A student at a middle school in Brownsville who brought a gun to school has been killed.

Police were dispatched to Cummings Middle school at around 8:00 Wednesday morning after receiving word that someone was inside the school with a gun.

Police arrived to find a 15-year-old eighth grader carrying a handgun.

Police told him to put the weapon down, but the student failed to comply. Police shot the boy 3 times.

No one else was hurt in the incident. The campus was locked down while police looked for other weapons and made sure the area was safe.
